This Somerville home’s foundation had been neglected for decades. Most of the mortar in all of the foundation walls had its mortar turn to dust. Plant roots from outside had begun to grow into the basement. In one corner the foundation shows signs of cracking and partial collapse.

The process of repointing and repairing this foundation takes many weeks. In the end the entire foundation will be strengthened with the addition of new mortar.
